TRANSFER YOUR UCONN CREDITS
You do not need to attend UConn to have your UConn courses recognized. Your receiving institution determines whether it accepts your credits and how they apply to your degree.
UConn ECE research has estimated that UConn credits earned through the program transfer to other institutions about 87% of the time. Acceptance and application toward a degree depend on the receiving institution.
Coming to UConn? You do not need to request a UConn transcript. Visit Coming to UConn for guidance on using your credits.
How Credit Transfer Works
When you take UConn courses through UConn ECE, you become a non-degree UConn student. Your courses and grades are recorded on an official University of Connecticut transcript.
To have your coursework evaluated at another college or university, request that your official UConn transcript be sent to that institution. Your high school transcript does not replace your UConn transcript for this purpose.
Depending on the receiving institution’s policies, your coursework may:
- Fulfill a specific course, general education, or major requirement.
- Count toward elective credits.
- Satisfy a prerequisite or support placement into a more advanced course.
Credit acceptance and degree applicability are separate decisions. Ask how accepted credits will count toward your intended program of study. Minimum grades, credit limits, and treatment of transfer grades vary by institution.
Recommendations for successful credit transfer
- Save your course materials.
Beginning with your first UConn course, keep a copy of each course syllabus and relevant assignments. Colleges and universities may request these materials to evaluate your coursework for credit, even several years after you complete the course.
If you need help locating a syllabus, contact your UConn ECE instructor or the UConn ECE Program Office. - Research the colleges you are considering
Use the UConn ECE Credit Transfer Database to explore transfer opportunities, then confirm current policies directly with each college or university.
As you compare colleges, ask:
– Do they accept UConn credits earned during high school through concurrent enrollment?
– What minimum grades are required?
– Will your courses fulfill major or general education requirements, count as electives, or satisfy prerequisites?
– Are there limits on the number of credits accepted?
Understanding how your credits could apply toward a degree can help you make an informed college decision. - Confirm your final grades.
Before requesting an official transcript, review your unofficial transcript in Student Admin to make sure all expected courses and final grades appear.
Grade submission deadlines are February 15 for fall courses and July 1 for spring and full-year courses. If a college needs your transcript before final grades are available, ask how it handles coursework still in progress. - Request your official UConn transcript
Once you know where to send your transcript, follow the instructions on our Request a Transcript page. Confirm the receiving institution’s submission requirements and deadlines before ordering.
If you are attending UConn, follow the Coming to UConn guidance instead; you do not need to request a UConn transcript. - Review your credit evaluation and follow up.
After your college evaluates your coursework, review how each course applies toward your degree. If a course is missing, is not accepted, or counts differently than expected, speak with your academic advisor or transfer credit office.
Ask whether additional materials, such as a syllabus, could support further review. - Contact the UConn ECE Program Office.

Explore the Credit Transfer Database
Developed and maintained by UConn ECE, the Credit Transfer Database is a unique resource for exploring how colleges and universities may recognize UConn credits earned through concurrent enrollment. Search by institution name or use the interactive map to review transfer information for colleges you are considering.
The database was last updated in 2023, and another update is currently underway.
The database provides guidance rather than a guarantee of credit acceptance. Because institutional policies can change, confirm current requirements with your receiving college or university. That institution determines whether your credits are accepted and how they apply toward your degree.
